Nestled in Chavakkad, this residential renovation breathes new life into traditional Kerala architecture by harmonizing time-honored craftsman details with refined modern minimalism. At the core of the spatial layout is a reimagined central courtyard (nadumuttam), framed by sculpted stone pillars, dark exposed timber rafters, and checkered floor masonry that draws daylight deep into the home's interior. Warm teak wood accents, louvered joinery, and bespoke brass fixtures anchor the material palette, while soft neutral upholstery, olive tones, and textured art create a serene, grounded atmosphere. Thoughtfully integrated vintage heirlooms—from ornate gilded mirrors and a classic brass gramophone to crystal chandeliers—pay homage to the home’s rich history without sacrificing the light, airy flow required for modern living.
